For this assignment you have to build a Project Management Consultancy Report based on the Smart City OS case study.

THE SMART CITY OS CASE STUDY - Hull's journey to becoming a programmable city

In the role of a Project Consultant you are required to develop a project report for the Smart City OS project by leveraging the techniques and concepts you have covered in the module.

The report has to include the following tasks:

Task 1

Q1. Classify the skills required into personal, interpersonal and group skills (Whetton and Cameron - topic workbook page number 11)
Q2. Look at the specific OS city project and pick up relevant skills required for the particular project - personal/interpersonal/group.
Q3. Actions required to be taken by a project manager to develop the skills
Q4. Research on other successful/unsuccessful projects, what skills did those project managers have/not have which led to the success/failure of that project.

Task 2
Q1. Define who is a stakeholder and identify the various stakeholders relevant to the smart city OS project.
Q2. Draw up a stakeholder influence map (mendelow matrix) and place the stakeholders in the four quadrants of that matrix.
Q3. Justify why you have placed that stakeholder in that quadrant and how will you engage with them?

Task 3
Q1. Identify the three (four) parameters, discuss how they are related to each other
Q2. Use the diagram on the slides/workbook (page 12)

Q1. Discuss the impact of changes (emergent/political/participative change) on a project (use some change management model)

Task 4
Q1. Advice on different types of resources required for the smart city OS project. Provide examples for the different categories of resources from the
Q2. State or list the different cost estimation techniques. Choose one of the techniques that you think would be suitable to use for this smart city OS project and justify why you suggest that method to be used.

Task 5
Q1. Provide a brief discussion on what is a risk register and how it is useful to a project manager to identify and manage risk
Q2. Use risk register b from the hub as your risk register for the task
Q3. Identify at least 10 risks belonging to any of the 6 categories of risk
Q4. Complete all the relevant columns of the risk register (don't forget to do the colour coding)

Task 6
Q1. Use Whetton and Cameron, pinto or gido et al sources of conflict as the basis to identify and discuss at least 6 conflicts that can arise in the smart city os project. (gido et al is the best)
Q2. Actions can be taken by the project manager to resolve them (page 8/9 of topic workbook)
Q3. Suggest appropriate conflict management and/or negotiation strategies to address these (page 11 of topic workbook)
