Section B. Analysis Tasks

The analysis tasks in this section assess your ability to identify key concepts or debates and to apply them to peer-reviewed academic documents. This is a crucial skill, which will be particularly useful when you are completing your research project in your final year.

The short analysis format encourages you to focus on a single concept explored within the module, and to use this to discuss and analyse a document. In doing so, you will demonstrate a range of key skills at FHEQ level 5.

When marking your each of analyses, we will consider:
• Is your chosen concept appropriate for analyzing the chosen document?
• Have you been able to explain the concept (concisely and accurately)?
• How well have you been able to use the concept to analyse the document?
• Are you able to make specific points, grounded in evidence, to support your claims?
• Have you used academic literature to help you to establish your points?
• Is there a sense of what you are trying to say about the document?

You do not need to analyse the chosen documentin its entirety. You only have 750 words so you will need to be carefully focused on the argument you want to make and select the relevant parts of the document to help you to make that point. You have had regular opportunities to practice these kind of analysis in the asynchronous tasks for each week.

Instructions

Please choose TWO of the following documents to analyse. You will write separate analyses for each document. Do not attempt to analyse them together.
