CO2519 Interaction with the Internet of Things - University of Central Lancashire
LO1. Effectively communicate legal and ethical concerns and their solutions
LO2. Design and justify an appropriate IoT solution to a relevant problem area
LO3. Implement a system to interface with devices connected to the Internet of Things
LO4. Evaluate an IoT application
Scenario
You work for IoTCity who specialise in IoT solutions for creating smart cities. You have been approached by Lancshire County Council to transform Preston into a Smart City using the WiFi network. Information should also be communicated to council staff via a website.
At this stage the council just wants you to prototype part of the system to be used as a proof of concept prior to a much large deployment.
You are required to prototype a system using light, noise and temperature sensing to demonstrate the benefits of an IoT solution. The data will be captured and used to predict future trends and agregated with other data including traffic etc.
A requirements specification has been produced for a prototype and you are required to develop the functionality as per the document. You will need to upload the working the source code and demo the functionality. It is anticipated that the range of sensors and infrastructure will be expanded in the future. At this stage it is a proof of concept, with code and algorithms designed on an Arduino for use in a presentation to the council to help them to understand the IoT system.
