Prepare dissertation about the Optimization of Production Parameters in Gas-Lifted Wells.

It should be around 13000 words.

The dissertation includes working on Excel and Prosper (Software) in order to make a design of a well working on two variable parameters that are pressure and injection rate.

Project information

Gas lift is an artificial lift technique that uses an external source of high-pressure gas for supplementing formation gas to lift the well fluids when the bottomhole flowing pressure is not sufficient to lift the fluids to the surface. In principle, gas is injected into the tubing and reduces the density of the fluids in the tubing. This leads to lowering the required flowing bottomhole pressure at the bottom of the tubing. Designing a gas lift system includes determination of the quantity of gas to be injected, the injection depth, the number of injection valves etc. Although various commercial packages are available to design these parameters, understanding the basic principles of gas lift design is a key factor for a petroleum or well engineer to be able to optimize the production of hydrocarbons from the reservoir and well deliverability. This project will deal with a design of gas lift system. After a literature review on gas lift and design parameters, the student will use Excel to design a gas lift system based on some initial data. The results will then be compared and validated with those of a well performance software.
